Lakshmi Menezes, M.D. is board certified in Internal Medicine, and is an affiliate of the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Menezes has been practicing medicine since August, 1996. Dr. Menezes began her medical education in 1986, at Kilpauk Medical College of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Madras, Madras, India. Dr. Menezes was awarded the gold medal for proficiency in Social and Preventive Medicine in 1992. That same year, she became senior trainee at Ambedkar Institute of Diabetes’ Clinical Research Department in Madras and completed an intensive care residency at Ayesha Hospital. In 1993, Dr. Menezes began her internal medicine internship and residency at St. Luke’s/Roosevelt Hospital in New York City. Between 1998 and 2002, Dr. Menezes was medical director at Coplin Memorial Health Center in Elizabeth, West Virginia. Dr. Menezes has engaged in a variety of medical research activities: She participated in clinical studies which reviewed ethnic differences in fat distribution and its effects on metabolism and health at St. Luke’s/Roosevelt Hospital’s Obesity Research Center. Dr. Menezes’ clinical services include preventive and periodic health care, diagnosis and treatment of most chronic medical and sub acute illnesses, minor surgical procedures, interpretation of EKGs and blood tests. Dr. Menezes’ has extensive experience in treating anxiety, depression, and providing routine gynaecological care. Dr. Menezes is a people person who enjoys getting to know her patients on a personal level. Dr. Menezes spends her personal time with family or listening to her favorite music (Indian classical). Music plays a pivotal role in her recreational time, as it helps her to unwind. She is also an avid reader and gardener.
