Rashid Saba, D.O. is a welcome addition to Access Health Care’s clinical team. Dr. Saba has a strong focus on hospital-related patient care, and at the same time maintains a full outpatient office practice conveniently located in the Medical Office Building attached to Oak Hill Hospital. He is a member of the Hernando County Medical Association, Access 2 Health Care IPA, the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association, the American Society of Hematology, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
In 1975 his family moved to Florida and he has resided in the Tampa Bay Area ever since. When he was 18 years old, Dr. Saba’s grandmother fell ill and moved in with his family. Due to the care and attention of his parents, Dr. Saba’s grandmother improved and was able to live independently once again. Many years later she moved in with his family permanently and enjoyed many fruitful years of life with them. This wonderful experience motivated Dr. Saba to pursue a career in medicine and elder care.
Rashid Saba received his medical education at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine and earned a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in June 2000. Dr. Saba’s post-graduate training occurred in Florida and Texas.
In 2003 Dr. Saba moved from tropical Florida to Houston, Texas. There he completed a Leukemia Fellowship at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, perennially regarded as the top cancer center in the world. During this time, Dr. Saba published INF, A Therapy for Patients with Essential Thrombocythemia: Final Results of a Phase Study Initiated in 1986 and gave a verbal presentation of his research findings at the 2003 American Society of Hematology Conference in San Diego. Dr. Saba is originally from North Carolina.
Dr. Saba’s compassion for patient care is constantly made apparent to his staff and patients. He finds it rewarding when he develops positive relationships with his patients and sees them through some difficult and scary times.
Dr. Saba has many hobbies, including cooking (especially Indian and French cuisines), long-distance running, playing soccer, fishing, and reading (he is partial to historical fiction). Dr. Saba and his lovely wife have three wonderful children, ages 11, 10, and almost 3! They are a joy he is blessed to come home to every day!
