Susan Mawhinney-Brignola, JD, MSN, MBA, ARNP, AGACNP-BC, holds a Master of Science degree in Nursing from the Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program. She also holds a JD law degree from Concord Law School in Los Angeles, a Master of Business Administration from Rutgers University, and a Master of Science in Nursing from the renowned Columbia University in New York, specializing in their acute care program with a minor in administration and a clinical focus in cardiology and medicine.
Ms. Mawhinney-Brignola graduated Columbia University with honors in 1983. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Rutherford, New Jersey, where she also graduated with honors.
Ms. Mawhinney-Brignola has spent 41 years in nursing and some of her professional achievements include being a member of Sigma Theta Tau National Nursing Honor Society, member of Phi Omega Epsilon in Nursing, the Linda Green Memorial Award recipient at Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. She authored three chapters in Standards of Critical Care in the third edition. She is the author of a neurosurgical nursing handbook and has authored several other articles.
Ms. Mawhinney-Brignola is an active member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN), the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), the alumni societies of Columbia University, Rutgers, and Concord Law School. She is a volunteer Guardian ad Litem for Hernando County.
She has two sons and four grandchildren living in New Jersey. She enjoys flying planes and helicopters, anything aviational, reading, cross stitching and piano and keyboard.
She is also a member of the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association and Women in Aviation Association.
