Verna Runyan, APRN-C, has been a certified nurse practitioner since 1994 and has been a member of the Access Health Care midlevel medical staff since 2006. Ms. Runyan’s 40 years of experience in nursing is vast and varied. Her areas of expertise include primary care, geriatric medicine, occupational medicine, HIV/AIDS care and working with the developmentally disabled. She is a former emergency department nurse and is best known in her community as the face of Access Health Care’s diabetes education.
Ms. Runyan is board certified by the American Academy of nurse Practitioners since 1995. She received her degree as a Certified Nurse Practitioner from Community General Hospital in Syracuse, New York. She holds an AAS degree in nursing from Clinton Community College in Plattsburgh, New York, and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the State University of New York in Plattsburgh. In addition, she holds an AA degree from Suomi College in Hancock, Michigan.
She is a member of the American Diabetes Association, the American Association of Diabetic Educators, and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
She and her husband, Mike, have two daughters, one son, and three grandchildren. She loves to dance, do outdoor and indoor sports, and shopping.
